Time for Fun

I’ve been a little serious lately, now for a little fun.  I preface this post with a little info… I’m 34 years old and have five kids with number six on the way.  That being said, about a year and a half ago I rediscovered BMX.  Now BMX stands for bicycle motocross and when I was a kid it was super popular and I wanted so much to do it, but my dad was not so supportive….blah…blah…blah.  Enough with the reminiscing.  

Any way we went to see a local race and I noticed that the environment was great, so I asked my eldest son Levi whom we affectionately call Leviticus Oblivious if he was interested.  You see up till that point we had not been involved in sports at all.  The way that team sports for kids have become hyper-competitive and all;  We had just decided to avoid them.

Levi started to ride and enjoyed it soon we invested a little in a properly sized bike for him and I started riding the larger bike… This may or may not be that suprising to you, however, I did weigh nearly 280 lbs then and was riding a 20 inch kids bike.  Great mental picture, Huh?  Well soon the next season came and I put joel (otherwise known as Yogurt) on a bike he didn’t know how to ride and gave him a push…voila…BMXer number 2… then Benjamin (the child formerly know as  jamenjimijiwiji a name that Levi coined)…Then….. Mom….yeah, my wonderful wife Tara was bitten by the bug too…man she’s fast (hi honey).  So all we have left now is Kharissa (Doodle Bug) and Gabriel (boo bear, just boo for short).  In the midst of all of this I became known as the crash king of Derby City Bmx for my quite predictable crash ratio of 1 in 6 races.

 Thus, we have become a quite a site at the local track rolling up with our Expedition full of carseats and loaded down with 5 bikes on the back.  Here are some Pics.
