Politics…an exercise in futility

I tend to be an idealistic sort of person.  When I believe something it is generally very black and white, so to speak.  This tendency has created some interesting problems at times, but has also shaped who I am.  I fancy myself to be a conservative in most every area of my life… theology… politics… you get the idea.   I have as of late however lost a great deal of “faith” even in those I have trusted to give me some of my political information. Yeah, I admit it.  I like to get a good listen in to Rush, Sean, Glenn, Mark, Michael..Reagan and Savage, Laura…you get the idea.  The problem is I think they have all drank the same foul kool aid.  I used to think that when they said that they were giving not going to endorse any candidate for president that they meant it.  The truth is that they do pick their candidate, puff him up, and diminish and attempt to marginalize any candidate that doesn’t match up.  I have seen this with their constant assertions that Mitt Romney is the only reasonable conservative choice.  Day in and day out they talk about Romney, never mind the fact that Mike Huckabee won the Iowa Caucus.  Romney.. Romney.. Romney.  I am so sick of the guy.  The truth is that the guy has had a “change of heart” on every conceivable issue that would have made him unelectable.  The problem here is not that he changed his mind, the problem is that it has all happened recently as he prepared to run for president.  Conservatives were so vehement about the flip flopping John Kerry, but now its a “Change of Heart”.   I don’t know if I really trust anybody in government anymore.  I sure am glad that God holds the heart of the king in His hands.
